Job Description:
Our client, an early stage mobile commerce start-up, has engaged us to conduct a search for an experienced User Interface Designer to be the FIRST Designer on their team. The founding team is composed of highly accomplished and well known technology entrepreneurs embarking on their next exciting venture.
The Director, User Interface Design will help create user interface design concepts and prototypes for consumer apps on mobile devices and related web sites. He/she will be responsible for the UI architecture, design and usability testing for prototype and commercial applications, as well as serve as a knowledge resource for the latest trends and technologies for mobile and web-based user experience development. You will have the opportunity to shape the user experience for the next wave of social applications on smartphones, tablets and the web.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a highly accomplished, entrepreneurial team to build storyboards, proof-of-concept mockups, demos and prototypes of proposed and planned applications and features.
- Help design and create a seamless, consistent look and feel across all mobile and web social platforms.
- Conduct ongoing research of user interface development best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in UI design / development, with specific expertise with consumer web applications.
- Fluency with web standards and technologies, including: CSS, HTML, JavaScript.
- 1+ year of experience with designing for mobile smartphone platforms, particularly iPhone (Android a major plus).
- Strong web graphics production capability and practitioner experience with Flash and other mockup tools.
- Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and as a presenter.
- Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering highly-polished UI prototypes under tight time constraints.
- Icon design, graphics capabilities a major plus.
- BA/BS degree required.
